More people bike to work in the Twin Cities than practically anywhere else in the country. In fact, only Portland beats Minneapolis with more commuters on two wheels.

Becca Koehler and Bonnie Vig both ride bikes to work because both of them totaled their cars. These best friends work at Target as bedding designers and are now using that background to design cycling clothes women can wear to work.

“You feel best when you’re biking when you look good, I think. It’s nice to go down the street and feel fashionable and cute and also get there on time,” Koehler said.

There’s a $68 loose-fitting, airy jersey dress that won’t restrict movement. How about a $98 summer jumper that has zips on the skirt — up for cycling, down for work? One of their $78 knit tops has a big collar to turn up for a cold day. Pair that with $82 Capri pants that fit tightly around the calf to avoid getting caught in the chain.

Vig said their designs are filling a gap they see in the clothes market. Good cycling clothes don’t necessarily make good work clothes and vice versa.
